Does the past truly inform our present?
We’ll examine that question and many others with our next film Ida on Monday, November 10.
A film Roger Ebert says is “Riveting, original and breathtakingly accomplished on every level…a masterpiece in any era, in any country”, Ida is the story of a young convent-raised girl who, having decided to become a nun, is directed by her Mother Superior to meet with her only known relative, an aunt. This journey of self-discovery takes place in 1960’s Poland and takes us into the countryside to uncover secrets both of Ida and her country’s past. Ida has been universally acclaimed by critics as a movie which is beautifully shot, acted, and at turns tender and bleak, funny and sad.
