Following the success of Atonement and Pride & Prejudice, director Joe Wright reunites with Keira Knightley for a lush and atmospheric adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel.

Set against the richly-textured canvas of late nineteenth-century Russian high society, the story chronicles the doomed love affair between the sensuous and rebellious Anna (Knightley) and the dashing army officer Count Vronsky (Aaron Johnson, Nowhere Boy).

Trapped in a passionless marriage, Anna is flattered when she attracts the attention of the charismatic Vronsky. Succumbing to him will, however, set in motion a series of events that will prove to be her undoing.
